Needles in a haystack
“They say you’ll find art in the least likely places” and Regg has found it in a hay.
He doesn’t use it literally as the main focus but instead they are there to ornament this “needles”.
There is an implied contrast that reveals to us the complicity of the author with them. Like old memories someone cast away in an old barn.
It’s up to us to find them in the midst of the caos.
