Not more than two weeks ago, Btoy was the 3rd artist to be invited for the WOOL festival in Covilhã. Btoy is a female artist from Barcelona that works mainly on stencil. I’ve had the chance to see her working in Barcelona before, and was happy to see her work again 4 years later and this time in Portugal. Along with her was artist Uriginal, who I’ve left some flicks here as well. Besides painting the main wall, Btoy had time to do a weekend workshop with locals, and paste up some posters in town. It’s Friday 11.11.11 and there’s surely no better collective that works with such mistic dates than U.A.T.. They’ll be at the Open Day, Lx Factory today, so here’s a teaser video from them.

Keeping up with what’s happening with Portuguese artists is the main objective, but with so much good stuff happening out there, I’ve decided to create a new edition with links to some of best stuff that can be found on some of the best blogs in the subject. Expect more in the future.

The WOOL festival has finished it’s first event, with the ARM collective spending some days in Covilhã painting night and day. Locals would stop by everyday to enjoy the developing of the main piece. They have taken in to account the surrounding church when painting their main piece, and that is visible by the illusion of tiles (Portuguese azulejo) used to blend in with the church’s near façade. Along the side walls, there’s also visible some small annotations, lost like a treasure map with small words of sayings and ways to pronounce words in Covilhã. All in all, probably the best ARM collective work I’ve seen so far and the best way to kick off a festival. All pics have been taken by Pedro Seixo Rodrigues, one of the mentors of the project. Walk & Talk, the urban art festival in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel island, Açores (Azores) invited a huge number of urban artists and illustrators to give the city some color. Pantónio just left me with some pics from his interventions, and many more will follow from other artists ending up on a global view of the city festival post. Artist Pantónio decided to go with only black and white due to the strong presence of the volcanic rock. As it’s a fisherman’s land right next to the spot, the customization of a boat was a request done by Pantónio that suited perfectly for his work. Some other spots of abandoned places inside, and more.

Vanessa Teodoro is working on a new show for the Eastpak Store this Thursday night. From the teaser pics inside, expect some customisations on the known bags of the brand. Flyer and info inside.

Graffiti Fine Art is a documentary by Jared Levy, where 65 graffiti artists from 13 countries descend upon São Paulo, Brazil for the 1st Biennial International “Graffiti Fine Art” Exhibition at the MuBE Museum.
