The WOOL festival has finished it’s first event, with the ARM collective spending some days in Covilhã painting night and day. Locals would stop by everyday to enjoy the developing of the main piece. They have taken in to account the surrounding church when painting their main piece, and that is visible by the illusion of tiles (Portuguese azulejo) used to blend in with the church’s near façade. Along the side walls, there’s also visible some small annotations, lost like a treasure map with small words of sayings and ways to pronounce words in Covilhã. All in all, probably the best ARM collective work I’ve seen so far and the best way to kick off a festival. All pics have been taken by Pedro Seixo Rodrigues, one of the mentors of the project. Wallpeople is a global event occurring in several cities throughout the world, bringing photography and interaction between strangers on the same wall. Since urban art involves more than just graffiti, stencils or posters, this project is making use of the public space to create a unique wall for 1hour only, where everyone is invited to bring one photo surrounding the theme “happiness”. We’re supporting the idea that will take place this Saturday at 17h in Lisboa. You can find more info inside (Portuguese) and through the facebook event.

Wallpeople (PT)

Wallpeople é um projecto cultural internacional de arte participativa que convida as pessoas a criar e recriar, a divertir-se, a ser parte dum momento num espaço urbano determinado, com a intenção de se tornarem parte de uma obra de rua única, irrepetível e feita por todos, uma espécie de flashmob artística.

Este projecto teve origem em Barcelona em 2009, mas ao tratar-se de uma iniciativa participativa, foram convidadas outras cidades a participar. Em 2010 Lisboa em conjunto com mais 10 cidades e contou com cerca de 400 participantes. Este ano, Barcelona, Lisboa, Roma, Santiago do Chile, Bratislava, Cidade de México, Bilbao, Bogotá, Budapeste, Valência, Madrid, Istambul, Porto, Sevilha, Berlim, São Paulo, San Juan (Porto Rico), Rio de Janeiro, Zaragoça, Palma de Maiorca e Amsterdão, juntaram-se ao projecto, tornando-se assim num evento global. No mesmo dia, simultaneamente em cada uma destas cidades, um dos seus muros tornar-se-á numa autêntica obra de arte criada por centenas de pessoas.

O objectivo é utilizar a arte como veículo de interacção dos cidadãos, da Internet até à rua, para criar uma obra única, global e que reflicta o carácter da gente da cidade. É uma forma de recuperar as sensações analógicas num mundo digital, é como fazer um Flickr na rua, dando também hipótese a que artistas profissionais ou amadores possam mostrar a sua obra ao mundo sem necessitarem de um espaço expositivo convencional.

Este ano o tema é a felicidade pois sentimento universal, mas ao mesmo tempo é algo pessoal e único. Há mil motivos pelos quais alguém pode chegar a ser feliz, e para cada pessoa são diferentes. Chegou o momento de as pessoas mostrarem, através das suas fotografias, o que é que realmente as faz felizes.

Após o sucesso da Wine Talks & Music realizada em Fevereiro, iniciativa que reuniu especialistas de relevo como o Maestro Vitorino de Almeida, Sérgio Godinho, José Duarte, Álvaro Costa e Fernando Melo num debate sobre a dimensão artística da Música e do Vinho em diferentes perspectivas, a Adega Mayor prepara-se agora para lançar mais uma experiência, desta vez inspirada na relação do Vinho com o mundo das Artes.

Neste âmbito, a Galeria da Boavista recebe de 19 a 26 de Maio, em Lisboa, uma exposição colectiva de 11 artistas portugueses, que são já uma referência no nosso país e no panorama internacional, e que aceitaram o desafio para criarem peças únicas que exploram a relação do vinho com o Mundo das artes. tomando como caminhos criativos a linguagem, a simbologia e a cultura do vinho.

AKA Corleone, Arm Collective, Filipe Rebelo, I’m from LX, João Retorta, Kruella D’Enfer, Lara Portela, Maria Imaginário, Miguel Januário, Pixelejo e Tâmara Alves são os artistas que dão corpo a esta relação entre o Vinho e a Arte. A mostra será inaugurada no próximo dia 19 de Maio, pelas 19 horas, podendo os trabalhos dos artistas serem apreciados até 26 de Maio, entre as 10 e as 13 horas e entre as 15 e as 19 horas.

Ao longo da semana serão, ainda, dinamizados workshops de arte (stencil, stickers e personalização de garrafas), provas de vinhos e workshops específicos para escolas (ver agenda em baixo).

A Adega Mayor estreou, este ano, um novo conceito de conversas informais, Wine Talks, onde se pretende explorar a relação do vinho com diferentes universos como a música, as artes, a literatura ou a arquitectura, fazendo de cada sessão um momento privilegiado de prova e partilha de conhecimento.
De 19 a 26 de Maio (10-13h/15-19h) passa pela galeria da Boavista, visita a exposição e participa nos workshops de personalização de garrafas que te propomos.

O que diz Lisboa? (Say What, Lisbon?) is a photography work by Laura Ramos, snapping pics from Lisbon street-art dated as far back as 2006 till the present time. This body of work will be shown this Saturday 14th from 5pm till 11pm at Espaço Nimas. There will also be  a breakdance jam by 12macacos.

Laura Ramos is a portuguese Photographer, Journalist and DJ.

All Photos @ O que diz Lisboa? |Say What, Lisbon?| were captured by Laura Ramos with mobile phones: first with a Nokia N73 and recently an iPhone 3GS.

This year’s edition of Wallmada 2011 came with a different format, with a mural being painted by the artists as opposed to last year exhibition. The artists performing where SKRAN.PLUS.AYER.HESP.FRAME01.BUGSTER. Some shots from that weekend inside. If you have some more, feel free to share some more to include in this post.

Artists Brad Downey and MOMO make part of the third installment of the CRONO project in Lisboa. MOMO painted the facade of a building, much like the previous artists of CRONO, but Brad Downey took a different approach, as it is usual by his installations nature. I have to admit I didn’t understand the pics at first, but after you get it… Brad buffed specific places and left the graffiti untouched or sometimes renewed, quite the opposite of what the city council would do.
