These last works from Paulo Arraiano aka YUP and Leonor Morais were done in the Island of Açores last week. If you’re far away from the island as is my case, then jump inside to get a taste of what must have been an amazing journey. Açores is on top of my “to go” list.

This is what drives me to go online, the quickness and the results you can have with the right search. So, this was how this post was gonna be like yesterday night: “I have no idea on how this project showed up, but I’m loving it. If someone knows anything about this project, please let me know. “. But, after an hour of researching and bouncing from site, to picasa accounts, to flickrs and back to websites, I ended up on the right path. Although this is a project from last year, it stunned me when I first saw these pics that Encore took last week, leaving me eager to find out more. “Mouraria on mosaics” is a project from Camilla Watson, a photographer that learned the tricks of liquid photo emulsion on mosaics.

And then sometimes on the less known streets that you might pass by now and then, there’s new artworks to look at on all different medias. Paste ups, ink painting & spray in new and old works, all in the same street.

“I’m better, thank you” is a piece that’s just been found in Lisboa. Hit me up if you know who the author is.
This just made me smile.
UPDATE: DedoNoGatilho has a pic from 2006, so this means this piece has stood up for 4 years, which is even more impressive!

On what has to be one of the most awaited projects for the street-art enthusiasts to show up in Lisboa, FAILE came to blow everyone’s expectations, including mine. For over a week, I had the privilege to follow the process of building from up close. I couldn’t be more happy to know that people are walking and stopping by to see what it’s all about. I know there’s some pics out already, but this post had to be written with some time and only after getting back a couple of times and seeing peoples reactions. So, jump inside for extended and uncut version of the temple.

Our Portuguese artist Vhils has left his mark in San Diego. He’s done new pieces for the Museum of Contemporary Art of San Diego exhibition “Viva La Revolucion”, alongside other big names like Swoon, Gémeos, Faile and many others.

Ok, I know I haven’t been active on the blog, but that’s due to the amount of work going around at the time. But what better way to come back if not with the wonderful news from FAILE. The guys are working hard from day to night, and I’ve had the pleasure to meet them and the team helping them on this massive project. Talking with the guys, I’ve learned they had been to Portugal twice, and have done some research for this project. I can surely say these are some of the coolest artists I’ve had the pleasure to have met and chat with. Expect a whole different take to their poster and stencils artworks, and I can’t advance anything without being too revealing. It’s gona be massive! For those who don’t remember, FAILE are some of the selected artists from the PortugalArte ‘10 event starting this Friday 16th.

And on the next day, Saturday the 18th only in a different place, another Portuguese artist is exhibiting his artworks for a group show at Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego entitled “Viva La Revolución”. Alexandre Farto aka Vhils will line up with such names as: Akay (Sweden), Banksy (U.K.), Blu (Italy), Mark Bradford (U.S.), William Cordova (U.S.), Date Farmers (U.S.), Stephan Doitschinoff [CALMA] (Brazil), Dr. Lakra (Mexico), Dzine (U.S.), David Ellis (U.S.), FAILE (U.S.), Shepard Fairey (U.S.), Invader (France), JR (France), Barry McGee (U.S.), Ryan McGinness (U.S.), Moris (Mexico), Os Gemeos (Brazil) and Swoon (U.S.).

Guilharte just kicked off today and will be an ongoing platform of several artistic representations until the 20th of June. There is already a considerable number of artists for the line up of a mural painting, from which these are involved: Devir, Dheo, Dirty Cop, Feijão, Frame, Glam & Nurea, Hesp tiago, Jope, Maria Imaginário (delicious), Monster, On TSK, Ram, Skran, Smiek, Toots, Van & Bolastik.
