This new edition of the Random Porto was conceived exclusively on lomography cameras, so it’s all analog from start to finish. Enjoy the latest from the city, thanks to Juanita.

The WOOL festival has finished it’s first event, with the ARM collective spending some days in Covilhã painting night and day. Locals would stop by everyday to enjoy the developing of the main piece. They have taken in to account the surrounding church when painting their main piece, and that is visible by the illusion of tiles (Portuguese azulejo) used to blend in with the church’s near façade. Along the side walls, there’s also visible some small annotations, lost like a treasure map with small words of sayings and ways to pronounce words in Covilhã. All in all, probably the best ARM collective work I’ve seen so far and the best way to kick off a festival. All pics have been taken by Pedro Seixo Rodrigues, one of the mentors of the project. Enjoy…
NuArt festival has been putting up events yearly with huge quality artists, and this year is no exception. Dan Witz, David Choe, Herbert Baglione, Lucy McClauchlan, Dolk, Herakut, Tellas, Escif, Hyuro, Phlegm, DVS1 and of course Alexandre Farto aka Vhils, were part of this year lineup. Vhils has left two new pieces in Stavanger, Norway, with a darker side showing on these new works.
GrafikWalls (mentioned here) made a pop up show on October 1st. Was nice to catch up with some of the artists, and to take a look in person of how the project was going. Catch a sample of what happened on that day.
The Underdogs are back, and this time to Maus Hábitos, in the city of Porto. This edition was composed by the usual artists Alexandre Farto aka Vhils, ±MaisMenos, ARM collective & Sphiza and special guests Mr. Dheo & Oker. Being up north, Miss K was kind enough to attend the inauguration and shoot some flicks from the night.
After a brief stay in Lisboa, artist 2:12 also made a quick jump to Açores, to the city of Horta where he left some more of his posters. Check the snapshots and a video inside.
Experimenta Design kicked off last week and it was great to see akaCorleone‘s work exhibited for the JOIO collective show. His piece starts with the line “What yesterday was high technology, today is a pyramid of garbage”. Check the gallery and info inside.
Around two months ago, I was contacted by two young brazilian artists (André Castanheira & Diego Casanovas) who wanted to do a short doc on Porto’s streetart. I’m glad to see the short doc has been released at the “Manobras no Porto” event last week, and can now be seen online. Jump inside for the video, and you might just recognize such artists as Tae, Costah, Hazul, Paul Bloas, ±MaisMenos, Dub and many more. Enjoy…
SAM3 has just been in Porto for the event Manobras no Porto, which has been surrounded by some complaints, where previously scheduled wall paintings have been canceled by the city council, due to it’s “artistic” expression, in other words, graffiti related. SAM3 wall installation have not faced that problem, and he was able to complete these two new murals. Check inside.
One of the latest pieces by Maria Imaginário showed here from “After the Utopia” show by Plasticina, is going for auction at the Dreweatts for the Urban Contemporary Art Auction. This auction has numerous pieces by Banksy, Obey. DFace, Faile and so many others, it’s a pleasure to see a Portuguese artist has made it to the list as well.
